Approximate Purchase Date: Over the next 30-45 days

Budget Range: I'm from India so 150,000 INR. Even if I convert it to USD the rates in India are pretty high so I'd be using amazon.in rates for reference

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Video Editing, streaming blu-ray movies from my PC to my 55" TV and gaming.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Parts to Upgrade: New build, I don't have any parts at all

Do you need to buy OS: Yes - Plan is to purchase Win 10 Home edition.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I will be going to offline market to purchase parts as I'm expecting around 10% reduction in prices there. However, some parts are totally at par with amazon.in so we can assume amazon.in as the preferred website.

Location: City, State/Region, Country New Delhi, India (Nehru Place is the market I'm planning to go to)

Parts Preferences: CPU has to be Intel's i7 8700K. Other details in Additional Comments section.

Overclocking: I'm guessing i7 8700k can easily be overclocked to 5GHz so if its doable, why not

SLI or Crossfire: I have no clue what this is, sorry!

Your Monitor Resolution: I don't want to spend a bomb on the monitor right now as I don't shoot or edit 4k content. A Full HD monitor would work for now.

Additional Comments:
1) Case / Cabinet: Cooler Master's HAF XB EVO really caught my attention given that its really airy and motherboard would be in its best position, laid down. It looks a little future proof also given that its durable and big enough for future upgrades. Any particular reason I shouldn't consider this case.

2) Coolers: Don't want liquid cooling, quiet air coolers would be the way to go. The above case can also fit 200mm fan up top.

3) GPU: Given that I wouldn't be doing hardcore gaming, GTX 1060 6GB is enough for now.

4) RGB lighting: I don't need RGB setup unless RGB components are similarly priced as non-RGB ones. I want maximum bang for buck so a sleeper setup would also do unless I can get disco theme without paying anything extra.

5) Storage: Would a 250 GB SSD work for someone who'd be using Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop & Lightroom mainly. Apart from this I was thinking Seagate's 2 TB Barracuda would suffice for now as I have 2 TB & 3 TB WD portable hard drives also.

6) WiFi: Currently I don't have the router in my bedroom so not sure if its best to have direct ethernet cable connection to this PC or I can work with Wifi card or something on this PC.

7) RAM: From what I've researched, 16GB should suffice for my needs and I'm also assuming that I don't need 4000+MHz as it doesn't really make a real-world difference to editing / gaming. I'm guessing 3200MHz (or maybe even 2600MHz, I don't know) should be enough for me.

8) Don't need the best keyboard or mouse out there and not even sure what's the difference between mechanical & non-mechanical keyboard so any decent keyboard with backlight would work for now. In fact super silent keyboard & mouse are preferred when wife's sleeping and I need to be working on the PC.

9) Motherboard: I figures that Gigabyte's Z 370 Auros Gaming 5 would fit my needs, its got WiFi that I may need but not sure if there's a cheaper or more reliable alternative.

10) I read that EVGA parts have global warranty so is that a brand that I should prefer. Also, Gigabyte has a store in Nehru Place so I'm assuming getting warranty claims would be easy from Gigabyte, hence assuming Gigabyte & EVGA might be the brands that I should consider first.

11) Lastly, I wouldn't really be assembling the PC myself. Plan is to go to the shop where I get best prices and those guys usually assemble PCs for the buyers. Please advise if there's anything specific to look out for so that the shop guys don't screw up my build.

To give you an idea about the prices -
i7 8700K - 33,673 INR
Cooler Master HAF XB II EVO - 8,720 INR
Zotac 1060 6 GB D.F AMP - 25,487 INR (Gigabyte's 6GB card should be similarly priced but the shop didn't have it at this moment hence I listed Zotac)
Gigabyte Z370 Auros Gaming 5 - 19,736 INR

I have the pricelist from a shop in pdf but not sure how I can attach it. It has prices for everything that's available at his shop and will definitely help you guys guide me better.

Thanks a lot for reading!

If u can wait for the i9 9900k with z390 mobo, that would be great for your productivity tasks. Releases in October.

Would ask you to go for aorus gaming 5 mobo or asrock extreme 4 z390. Which ever is cheaper then.

Go for 2x8gb of 3200mhz ram kits.

Cryorig R1 or noctua NH D15 or be quiet dark rock pro 4 for cooler.

A nvme ssd like the Samsung 970 Evo. 512gb would be great.

Go for Asus gtx 1060. The dual series card. Better service and presence in India.

Antec earthwatts pro gold 650 w or corsair txm 550 or seasonic focus 550 psu.

Consider coolermaster H500P mesh case.

Try www.primeabgb.com www.theitdepot.com www.mdcomputers.in for some other online stores.

LG got those 34" 2560x1080 ips screens. Great for productivity. If you want to go for a hdr screen at higher cost, knock yourself out XD

Mechanical keyboard are durable and have great typing experience. The cherry mx black are quiet switches. You also have the mx silent or quiet switches. But try them out before buying them. Same goes for the mouse.

Thanks a lot for your inputs, they were immensely helpful!

I don't think I'd want to extend the budget further to incorporate i9 simply because I'm just starting out with my vlog editing stuff and may pitch in more money if I see some results out of it.

For now this is what the configuration looks like, its going to cost me around 170k now.

CPU - i7 8700k
CPU Cooler - be quiet Dark Rock 4 or Dark Rock Pro 4 if available (Pro wasn't available online)
Motherboard - Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 5
GPU - Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1060 6 GB (3 fans)
RAM - G.SKILL TridentZ RGB DDR4 3200MHz
Case - CM - MasterCase H500P Mesh (White or Gun Metal whichever is available)
SMPS - Corsair - TXM Gold 650W 80+ Gold Certified
SSD - SSD SAMSUNG 970 M.2 (250GB) (500 GB is double the cost, is it worth saving 8-9k?)
HDD - Seagate 2 TB 7200 RPM Barracuda
Monitor - LG 29UM69G 29 Inch Ultrawide IPS Monitor (34" is going to be out of budget)
Keyboard - Gigabyte Mechanical Cherry Red (GK-FORCE K83 RED) will be trying this in person before finalizing
Mouse - Logitech G102 Optical Gaming Mouse

Does it make sense to wait for i9 to come out so that I can maybe save a thousand buck or two on the processor and Z370 motherboards? I'm in no rush so if waiting another month makes sense then I will

The cpu price most probably won't come down. But maybe the mobo prices will.

The reason I asked for you to go for z390 is cuz of the beefy power phase vrm in it for that 8 core cpu.

And since you are gonna be video editing which will take more than 90% cpu utilization, the dark rock 4 might not be sufficient. That's why the pro version or the other beefy options I recommended. You can also look for a 240/280mm aio cooler as an alternative.

Ssd option is upto you. If you feel that 256gb is sufficient, that's cool.

Cherry mx red are loud. I guess you can try and decide for yourself.

The build got delayed due to multiple reasons but I need to get back to it now.

Since i9 9900k is launched, would it make sense to change the processor from i7 8700k to i9 9900k? Reason is that my sister is travelling to the US and for 37k (INR) she can get the i9 vs the i7 which is available for 30k here in India. Given just 7000 more can fetch me the i9, I think I should get the processor.

Should I ask her to get the processor from US or is there merit in getting the Graphics Card instead and save some money?

That's a done deal regarding cpu. Definitely worth the extra 7k. It's the same case with the gpu. What's your initial gpu budget? Can a 1070ti fit in it? How about the rtx 2060 if it's available there? But I have no idea if taxes will be applicable when your sister brings them here.

Which mobo have you selected? I would suggest gigabyte aorus master/ultra or msi gaming ace or asrock phantom gaming 6 or Asus Strix...

Your sister can bring the smaller components easily like the cpu, rams and ssd.

Aio cooler if you wish for the 9900k

rog Strix z390

psu

Willing to take the risk of paying custom duties at airport because as such its very expensive here in India. Will still ask her to throw away all extra packaging and just keep basic packaging that doesn't break the component.

Have sent her the list of Processor, RAM and SSD already.

GPU was turning out to be around 35k here in India (1060 6GB three fans) which means around 500 dollars in US I can spend on the GPU, which GPU would you suggest now. 1070Ti seems to be in budget but RTX 2060 would be out of budget. Any pointers on which specific GPU I should ask her to get?

Performance wise, the rtx 2060, 1070ti and 1080 should all be about the same.

The launch price of the 2060 is 350. A good model 1070ti like the evga ftw3, ssc or Asus cerebrus, Strix, gigabyte aorus, msi gaming x or titanium models would be great.

case : Coolermaster MB530P

how much is the dark rock pro 4? if its more than 8k, this cooler would be a good choice Deepcool assasin II u have to adjust the middle fan to accomodate the cooler cuz the case has 165mm cooler clearance and the cooler is 167mm tall...
