I am new to all things PC building and would like to have a mid-range gaming/workstation rig. I have done some research over the past few weeks into the compatibility, and of course the reviews of the parts I have selected, but would still like an educated opinion on the entire build - mainly I want to make sure that all the parts are compatible, won't bottleneck, are quality products and if you have any suggestions for alternate parts which may be cheaper, more functional, or better suited to the rest of the build.

Solution

My budget is approx $3000 AUD or $2200 USD and I have all those components listed on pccasegear as well - which the total comes to about $2500 AUD, so there is some room, but that 3000 is a max limit

I would do something like this:

Gives you a current GPU and plenty of money for a nice monitor.

That looks pretty good, thanks, is this a build you have done before? And one of my friends recommended the Seagate hybrid drive, but is there more of an advantage to having a separate SSD and a HDD? And I can see how getting a current generation CPU and GPU would be better, however I have not heard great things about the 9th gen of Intel, particularly availability and for the i5 specifically, the reviews suggested there was little improvement over the previous generation, so is 9th gen worth it? Fully agree on the GPU though

I personally like ryzen more than Intel on most budgets as it allows money to be spent elsewhere in the computer so here's what I came up with there

Thanks for all of your input - I will look over all the suggested builds thoroughly and come to a conclusion based on my specific needs, this has been very helpful, and I hope you all have a good day/night!
