Hello, new on here and new to pc building. Looking to build my first pc, mainly for gaming, web browsing, word processing and streaming. I have dont quite a bit of research and feel i know a decent enough amount of information to begin picking parts and building. Also, i am trying to keep this build within the $1000- $1200 range. Another thing im not sure about is overclocking, im interested in it, but i feel that it scares me a little as i dont want to damage my system, and do not know the proper way to go about overlclocking. Anyway, this is what i am thinking for my build, any opinions or feedback would be helpful so i can pick the right parts for a pc that will last and be a really nice gaming pc that will look great in 1080p.

CPU : intel i5 4690k

Cooler : either the cooler master hyper 212 evo (or a water cooler, if it is not above 70 dollars )

Mobo: this is where i am having trouble and cannot pick. I need an ATX model, i hear good things about gygabyte z97 and then heard the asus are the way to go, and have heard msi makes great products. I am willing to go up to 150 on this part. Right now im looking at the MSI VI hero or the white krait edition

GPU: Not sure what to pick with this either, it seems like the gtx 970 are nice but are getting alot of hate, but i feel that will not be an issue since im not gaming in 4k. The MSI gtx 970 is my top choice, but i have heard the windforce one is good as well as any EVGA one. ( would like feedback on this )

Storage: For storage im going to use a samsung evo 120gb ssd for boot and programs. Then im going to get the WD caviar blue 1tb hard drive which should be good enough for everything.

Memory: G skill ripjaws x series 1866 8 gb ( i like the red color of these and definitely want 8gb of ram, any feedback on different ram i would like because there is so much to pick from)

Power source: EVGA 120-G1-0750-XR 750w

Case: either the nxzt s340 or Fractal Design Define R5 w/Window (Black) ( definitely want a windowed case that looks sleek)

OS: Windows 8.1

I already have a nice 1080p monitor and will pick up a mouse and keyboard later when i am actually beginning to buy all these parts

Well my friend, for your budget, this is my recommendation, It's theme is blue, which will look sick in the Define R5, and the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming is the sweetspot between performance, temperature and noise levels in the 970 card.
The PSU get's top marks from Jonnyguru too, hope I could help :) :

EDIT: If you're not going to get another GTX 970 for SLI in the future, you can get the Asrock Z97 Pro 4 as your motherboard and save yourself some money :)
