First time to build a computer, will this be fine?

So I've finally decided to step into the large world of building my own computer and needed a little input from people who know what they're doing.

Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next 2 weeks

Budget Range: 1,000.00 - 1,300.00

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming is the Top priority

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: All of it, New Build

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg

Location: City, State/Region, Country - we need to know where these parts are being assembled and whether there are good store-only deals available

Parts Preferences: INTEL AND NVIDIA for cpu and gpu, everything else is up to change

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe


Your Monitor Resolution: Haven't decided on this yet

Now these are parts I've studied up a bit on and thought that it should be fine, but again being a first build, I want to be sure. Any input would be great and advice for a new computer builder would be great! Thank you ahead of time!

Thermaltake isn't a top brand for power supplies - you're better off with Corsair, Seasonic, or XFX. If you don't plan to overclock, you might be better off with an H77 motherboard instead of Z77. Other parts look okay, but I don't know whether they're the best for you - filling in a copy of the template (especially budget and usage) would help:

Whatever the brand, 850w is way way way overkill. You want like the Corsair 500W or XFX 550 watt supply for a build like that, you don't need an 850 until you are doing something like dual GTX 670s

Also don't see an aftermarket cooler. Add a Hyper 212 Evo for ~$30 and overclock - even if you don't increase the voltage or spend any real time at it, you can simply set the multiplier to 42x for a 20% increase in speed and still be 100% stable. If you spend time testing you probably can get more, but basically all 3570k's will run at 42x with an aftermarket heatsink (honestly, they all but have to given how crappy the stock heatsink is and how hot it lets the chips run).
