So i just bought an Asus z370-a mother board, i5 9600k with Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO as the cooler, and NZXT H500 case Which should all arrive here on Friday. This is my first time doing any upgrading or PC building in general, I know how to do it, I just never have done it before. Basically im just looking for advice, like things i need to look out for or make sure i dont do. Also am wondering if this is a decent CPU upgrade from what i previously had which was a i5-6400 with a stock cooler. sorry if this was the wrong place to post this.

Hopefully the motherboard has a updated BIOS as it won't boot with the 9600K without it. You may want to save yourself time and cancel the motherboard and buy the Z390 version of it.

As for building there's plenty of guides out there.

You'd want to buy a cheap Intel Coffeelake Celeron to update the BIOS.
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Celeron G4900 3.1 GHz Dual-Core Processor ($52.40 @ OutletPC)
Total: $52.40
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Or return the 9600K and get a 8600K.

Or return the Z370 and get a Z390.

Yes, when you build the system and if your using a SSD & HDD only connect the SSD initially. Install Windows onto the SSD and when the system is up and running then you can install the HDD. Doing this forces Windows to be installed on the SSD instead of HDD. If the HDD doesn't show up go into Disk Management and initialize the disk.
