I have just bought a 2k monitor and am going to hook it up to my computer ( not done yet ) while it's still hooked up to my 1080p tv as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understood from a previous post I made that I can set my computer to send the same display with 2 different resolution to 2 different monitors. The question is, If I go on youtube to watch a video, or set a game to 1440p for my 2k monitor, what will show up on my 1080p monitor?

Solution
Guy says that if his gf wants to use on of the 2 he can use the other and VICE VERSA wich mean he wants the pc screen to be on both screens on the pc input so he can sit on tv or monitor with no problems. He says what he says and he ius right he wants mirror screens. Mirror screens usually has no differentr resolutions they mimic the primary screen resolution. If the resolution is bigger you will miss stuff from the smaller one. From control ceneter from amd or NVidia u may be able to have different resolutions .if your game is 1440p lets say and your second monitor is 1080 p then most probably you will miss things on second one or it will say (in case of full screen resolution in your game) that the resolution is out of bounds and you...
No you don't understand, I want mirror screens, that way if my girlfriend wants the tv, I can go play on the monitor and vice versa. Both monitor will display the same exact screen at the difference that one will be 1080p and the other 1440p.

Clone mode displays the same image on two different monitors.
I think you want extended desktop mode.

Gaming will be directed to your primary monitor, presumably the 1440P monitor.
You can still use the second monitor/tv for youtube video, email or whatever.

I do want to duplicate the display so the same thing shows on both screen, that's not the question. Question is what will happen if I play a 2k video on youtube for exemple and it shows on both screen, the 1440p monitor will do just fine but what will happen to the 1080p one?

If you have your games on 2k resolution but borderless instead of fullscrenn you will be able to change the resolution of the game on the second monitor since yopu will be able to see the menus if you go fullscreen though you wont see the menus of the game to navigate and change the resolution. Ofc you would be able to change the resolution of the game from 1st monitor before you transfer your vision to the second one 😛
