I cannot update windows. Can anyone help me? Microsoft can't, tried, and Gateway can't, tried. Help?

Sounds like the Snap.DO add-on in Internet Explorer is the problem. Try to deactivate that. Click on the little gear in IE, goto manage add-ons and deactivate it.
