[SOLVED] Fixed 2080 TI overclocking?

I used to have a gtx 1080 ti and used evga precision XOC with no issues. Base was 1569 and turned it to 1873. I used this feature called K boost which boosted it to 1873 regardless of load. In GPU-Z when I go to the sensors tab, it shows the GPU clock as 1873.

Now on my ASUS 2080 TI I'm using GPU Tweak II and can only overclock 170 MHz to 1798 max before crashing. Even when using EVGA Precision X1 this is the same case. In GPU-Z my GPU clock is only 300MHz. I understand its in adaptive mode and won't push to 1798 unless necessary, but is there any way to replicate what I had on the 1080 TI and just have it fixed?

I also don't quite understand clock speeds on GPU's. The 2080 TI has a lower turbo boost than the 2080 which doesn't make sense since the TI is supposed to be the faster card. Yet in benchmarks the 2080 TI gets about 15-20 frames more than the 1080 TI or 2080 which both have higher base and boost clocks.
 
Solution
Probably more about keeping power consumption (and temperatures) in check. The 2080 Ti already draws like 275 W with a core clock that's 100-150 MHz less than the 2080.

What is the actual core frequency you see under load with your highest stable overclock? Can use something like hwinfo64 to monitor it while running a benchmark.

A 2080 Ti has more shader cores than a 1080 Ti, which in turn has more than a 1080. Also, the GPU architecture can make a difference (2080 Ti is Turing architecture, 1080/Ti is Pascal).

You may have to increase voltage and/or power limit to push your card further.

Yes I increased power limit to maximum. And my voltage increased by 60. I just followed the settings most benchmarking videos from popular YouTubers had along with what I found online. Pretty much all benchmark articles/videos can't push it past 170MHz. For some reason I saw some videos have theirs clocked at around 1900. Was weird, ASUS only allows a max OC of 1798 in GPU Tweak II but I remember rummaging around the software and seeing in the hardware monitor that the max boost clock was 1900 something. I don't remember what I did to make it that way because its now only saying 420. Confusing.

I understand clock speed isn't every thing, but still, why make the 2080 have a higher clock than the TI? Just sounds like some marketing technique so people don't feel they're getting some thing inferior.
