Update: Quoting myself from a comment:
I swapped my CPU with a 5800x I had access to, and my computer no longer crashes, whilst the other computer has now started to crash with my 5950x. So it would seem obvious that my CPU is the problem here. I hope I can get RMA through AMD, but I don't have original proof of purchase (I bought this from local classifieds using Venmo). If not I guess I will pay out of pocket for a new one.

I purchased a new 5950X and installed it -- no problems since then. Yay! Thanks everyone.

Aloha!

My computer has been crashing frequently, sometimes within 10 minutes of booting and sometimes within 6 hours. This started happening 3 weeks ago and I've changed no hardware and installed no new software. The crash is always DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. If I lock the computer and walk away, it almost always crashes within 20 minutes.

Here's what I've tried:
  • Updating drivers
  • Updating BIOS & chipset
  • Re-installing graphics drivers
  • Running sfc & dism to repair corrupt files
  • Running Windows in Safe Mode
  • Re-installing Windows
  • Swapping out all my RAM
    • Memtest shows many errors in my RAM, but when I move the RAM to another known-good system, that system shows no errors at all. Similarly, when I move that system's known-good RAM into my system, I get errors on my system. This makes me think the motherboard or CPU is bad
  • Trying just one RAM module, in each slot
  • Trying two RAM modules, both in dual channel and single channel
  • Swapping GPUs
  • Laying down and staring into the void
Here are some dump files: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Tnhj-fDl_0AuUECioMCdAGoruf-QLX0X?usp=sharing

What errors, warnings, and informational events, if any, do you see in Reliability History and Event Viewer?

Especially any that started appearing 3 weeks ago.

Also check Update History for any failed or problem updates.

How old is that Corsair PSU? Original to build, new, refurbished, used?

History of heavy use for gaming, video editing, or bit-mining?

Thank you for your reply! I believe I've found the source of the problem; my CPU... but I will answer your questions first:

What errors, warnings, and informational events, if any, do you see in Reliability History and Event Viewer?

Especially any that started appearing 3 weeks ago.

Nothing that is out of the ordinary, it's sort of a tough question to answer but as far as I can tell everything looks about normal.

Also check Update History for any failed or problem updates.

No failed updates; there was an update around the time this started happening but a new Windows install still had the same problems.

How old is that Corsair PSU? Original to build, new, refurbished, used?
It is new to the build, purchased brand-new, and is about 1.5 years old.

History of heavy use for gaming, video editing, or bit-mining?
I do a lot of software engineering and run multiple VMs using Hyper-V, which run 24/7/365. No mining though. Really the CPU generally sits at low usage.

I wish I had read this part before converting the dump files, would have saved 30 minutes - here they are anyway.

Comment: 2 or more types of RAM are installed.
Did you swap the ram around a few times as report shows more than 2 types of ram was used in the 8 dumps. If you did, its unlikely to be cause. I just thought I mention it,
Seeing that BSOD too much these days.
if problem persists, look at GPU drivers, as 6 of those all happened while Directx was being used, and since you have 2 GPU, its always possible.

I greatly appreciate your time helping me. I love the report you generated! Thank you so much. I did swap my memory with some from a working system at one point and that's how I discovered that my original RAM was fine -- both sets would error only in my computer, and be just fine in the other computer.

Thank you so much, I'll keep an eye on the GPUs! You all are amazing
