Hi all,
It turns out my BIOS wasn't up to date and thus the Mobo was having trouble supporting the graphics card. There may be other tricks I mention below which may have helped me on the way, but the final straw was reflashing my BIOS with the newest version.
I have been having an absolute mare with my setup. I would like to share my story and the specifics so far:
My build: Intel i5 3470, MSI B75-G43, AMD Rx 480, 8GB RAM, running windows 7 Professional.
I have just recently bought the RX 480, and I had a Radeon 7770 in previously which worked fine.
network card: PCE-N15 11n, corsair cx600 600W PSU.
and my biggest plague to this point has been:
system won't even get into BIOS with gpu plugged in [FIXED]
system won't recognise gfx card [FIXED]
The program "AMD settings" will not open because "No AMD graphics driver is installed, or it is not functioning properly" [Current Issue]
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (code 12). [Current Issue]
The OS is almost completely fresh bar what I've been up to today, which consists of:
So far, I have:
unplugged the battery and shorted the JBAT1 pins of the mobo to reset the bios
reinstalled a fresh windows 7
installed the mobo drivers inc the integrated intel graphics
installed the graphics card drivers
flicked the UEFI switch on the gpu
Having looked into msinfo32 for conflicts/sharing, the intel 7 series/C216 chipset family PCI *port(?)* is being shared with my network card, and they're also sharing the same IRQ (address?).
I have uninstalled the network card driver, and the 480 is still giving the same error.
I then uninstalled all graphics drivers, the 480 and the intel integrated driver right back to show just 2 standard VGA graphics adapter, and one of the 2 adapters show the exact same error.
In terms of software / drivers used,
radeon crimson relive 17.1.2
win7 64bit radeon software crimson relive 16.2.2
win7 64 bit crimson relive 17.1.2
AMD catalyst 15.7
DriverEasy
the network card driver
DDU graphics card uninstaller
In the integrated graphics devices config of BIOS
I've got:
BIOS version E7758IMS V10.0
Initiate graphic adaptor to IGD (The system doesn't even seem to make it to windows with PEG selected)
Integrated graphics share mem: 256M
DVMT mem Maximum
IGD multi-monitor enabled.
PCIE Gen 3 tried enabled and disabled
And I think I've covered it all up til now. I reckon it's going to be such a silly niggle like a check box in the BIOS or in the settings, but I'm kind of all out of ideas right now. Your help is very much appreciated!
halp ma. pls. ha
