Good afternoon, have a problem that I can't seem to fix. I recently setup a new network in our house that we just moved into. The network consists of the following:

Actiontec red band moca router (bridged, not used for any networking)
pfSense system
Netgear WNDR3700 (VPN router, WAP)
Zyxel AV1200 x2
Foundry 24g Switch
Synology DS112j

The problem I have having is the Zyxel AV1200 will drop connections to the internet when trying to stream Netflix/SlingTV after a few minutes, but will play local network media just fine. I thought maybe one of the units was over heating since the room it was in was really hot all day, so I relocated it and it still seems to be having a problem. I am using a Kindle FireTV connected directly the AV1200, and then the other end connected to the Foundry.

I hooked up a laptop to the AV1200 to further troubleshoot, I have 2 windows running ping -t, one hitting 8.8.8.8 and one hitting the router, the one hitting google's dns server has random drops, while the one hitting the router hasn't missed a beat. Could this be a clue to something? Maybe a bad cable somewhere between the pfsense and the actiontec?

Thank you

What indication do you get when the Fire TV drops connections? Do you see a network error, or is it just buffering?

If the Fire TV streams local content without problems, I would suggest concentrating on bandwidth issues ahead of the Netgear. You might consider removing the pfsense temporarily to help isolate the issue. No other devices have problems with Netflix or Sling? Do you have sufficient Internet speed to stream video?

You shouldn't read too much into the ping times, since ping is relatively low priority to a server, and it may not respond to every request depending on load.

It wasn't so much ping times but more of connectivity tests. Sling will play, and then stop after a minute or two and do a buffering screen and then errors out.
