I had the same problems discribedall over this thread...
No Bass in center and rear...

Somehow I managed to fix it and it sounds absolutely great now in all channels with bass fully working...
I know rightmark 3d positioning accuracy test helped enormously in testing and testing for two days...
It now works great in Directsound3D + eax4 advanced HD, and my speakers are on 5.1 on game mode, so I know the fix was not software rendering or entertainment setting...

Battlefield 2 has never sounded this good with bass on all channels and no audible switch from speaker to speaker while turning...

Here is the bad news...
I did so many things that I cannot tell what I did that fixed it...
I do know that I have bass redirection on and on 150, but before I fixed it, it was the same value...

All I can say is that the first test I ran in which I noticed I fixed it was right after I disconnected the microphone plug from my soundcard, but after reconnecting it it still works...

my conclusion is that you can fix the problems without driver reinstalls, so keep the faith and keep fiddeling about till you find it...
The diffeance is amaizing..!

I experienced the same problem as you, (as have many, many others), and my problem is suddenly 'fixed' as well - although I'm not 100% sure how I corrected it....

Check out my post for a possible solution for all Medusa 5.1 'No Bass' probs.......

I should try your fix, because somewhere tonight, things went horribly wrong again...
Bass in center was suddenly gone again...
Also the rear speakers started to sound much worse, though overloaded with bass...
