Fixing a laptop motherboard

I've been trying to find the problem with my laptop's motherboard but I've had no luck, including a previous post here. Does anyone have a guide to troubleshooting problems with this kind of thing?

Step 1: Replace motherboard with new one bought on ebay.
Step 2: Enjoy your working laptop.

Laptops are very hard to fix because of the size and compactness of it and many people do not build laptops and so the availability of parts is small. You may be better off sending it in if it's fairly new. Because they a fairly inexpensive to build most companies do not try to fix them and they will just throw it away and send you a rrefurbished one.
