Fixing Corrupted Hard Disk Drive

I had an old computer with​ important stuff. I didn't use it for a while because it was really outdated. When I started it , everything worked fine but one of the disk drives of the HDD.
It is neither showing any data not is it getting formatted or opened.
 
Solution
Hopefully you have not tried or succeeded with a format on that drive. If so, either way, there is a good chance that any data is lost.

First of all, you must remember that anything you do may cause data loss.

However, one thing you can do is look in the case and check that the power and data cables to the old drive to ensure that all are properly and securely connected.

You also have the option to run the applicable manufacter's drive diagnostic software. The software may report some problem or problems. (Again there is a risk of further or permanent damage.)

Another option is to remove the hard drive from the existing case and set up the hard drive as an external drive. USB connected perhaps. That would eliminate the...

Solution
If possible, usb or dvd boot any portable backup/restore program, clone that problematic source HD as is onto another external target HD, then put target HD away in case it's needed. Then, follow the great advice given by the earlier posters :)
