I have a Fujitsu-Siemens computer with the motherboard MSI-845 Ultra (639.

The BIOS on the motherboard is an AWARD-BIOS with nearly no options in. I want the real bios for this motherboard. I downloaded the real bios (AMI-BIOS) from MSI:s homepage.

When i try to flash with AMIFLASH and the AMI-BIOS it says "Flash Rom Erasing Error".

I tried to flash with the bios found on Fujitsu-Siemens homepage (Award-BIOS). I worked properly to flash with AWDFLASH that also was found on their page.

When i tried to flash the motherboard with AWDFLASH and AMI-BIOS it works properly to make backup of the existing bios and AWDFLASH recognize the flash-file. But when it starts to flash it says "It Is Not Award BIOS".

The only thing that works with AMIFLASH is to do a backup of the existing BIOS.

Please help, what should i do? I think that i need a modified version of AWDFLASH that can flash with AMIBIOS-files. Or can i use some syntax to make it skip the control if it is an Award-bios?

Well, I'm not sure about flashing with a different BIOS than that provided by the manufacturer. You say you want the 'real' BIOS for this board, but how did you come to the conclusion that the different one is the 'real' one? Anyway, regarding the erasing error, there are often jumpers that have to be shorted to allow flashing. If the jumpers are not shorted you might get an erase error. Of course, that might be the only thing that saved you from messing up your BIOS.

Some older AMI utilities could flash Award also. Can't remember what version. Their is another solution, it's called Uniflash, it will allow you to flash nearly any BIOS to nearly any system (very dangerous if you don't know for sure you're using the right file)!
