Flash drive endlessly disconnects after live image crashed

I have a 64GB flash drive I use for a live image of Kali Linux for my cyber security course. I recently tried to add persistence to it, but it didn't work. When I tried to plug the USB into my PC to try again, it keeps chiming and file explorer keeps restarting.

When I plug it in, my taskbar keeps flashing like it's being reloaded. Windows keeps chiming over and over again while it's plugged in like I'm unplugging it and plugging it back in. When I try to format it, the process can't finish because it keeps disconnecting.

I tried using HDD Low Level Formatting tool, but it says the device timed out every time I run it.

This flash drive was kind of a lot of money so I'm looking to fix it rather than buy a replacement.

Any input is appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you tried a USB 2.0 port? I had the same problem but after I did some reading, if the 3.0 part fails on the flash drive it will either show up only at 2.0 or do the constant disconnect issue as it tries to use 3.0 protocols over and over.

I have 2 flash that do this, but work fine in 2.0 ports.

Just tried it. No luck. :/
