flash drive not recognizable

my lexar flash drive is unable to be read on my computer, it dosen't show up either, i have all my stuff on there, when i insert it into my computer it makes a sound to know that its in, but i don't see it anywhere, i don't know what to do!

Well for one thing you shouldn't store important files on a pen drive, they are not designed for that. Short term storage only.
And point number 2, you should always have a backup of your important files.
Try the pen drive in another PC and if it doesn't work there either, ditch it & buy a new one.
As for losing your data, well that's your fault for trusting a single pen drive and having no backups.
