Flash drive wont appear in MY PC

I was looking for some earphones around my drawers and found an old 1GB Flash Drive which I forgot I even had. I wanted to use it for something general like School Work etc. But when I plugged it in I get a few errors. First it didn't show up in the drive's but is discovered by the pc in Device manager. I managed to load it in my hard drive but its pointless because if i try opening it but it says that it is not accessible and that the device is not ready. I reinstalled it and also tried formatting but there is no option to format
