Flashing motherboard Bios

I am buying a 9900k and don't need any features from the z390 line and decided to get a z370 and the Extreme4 looks like a good fit for my setup. I am coming from a 4930k which I had to flash the bios with a flash drive in order to fully boot when I bought it, but the board was able to do it with the 4930k installed. If the z370 board doesn't come with the supporting bios pre installed can I do the same with that processor installed and a flash drive? Thanks!

I am aware of this. If you read the full post i referenced my 4930k processor as an example for how the flash process worked when i had to flash the bios on the motherboard it currently sits on, but i am finding information saying that the method i used requires a processor that currently works for that motherboard in order to flash and just want clarification on this for the motherboard i plan on purchasing to use my 9900k with. (Z370 Asrock Extreme4) Thanks.

Calvin - he mentioned he was buying a i9-9900k cpu

to the OP - one suggestion, use a program like GetRight that controls the download so you know it isn't corrupted

2nd suggestion, is let the bios "age" for awhile before downloading, and then research if folks are having issues with it

i just built a rig with that very CPU and a Z390 motherboard, and when i flashed the "latest & greatest" BIOS for the asrock Taichi mobo, it had only been released 4 days earlier and was either bad or corrupted during download

i should have researched that new of a BIOS release, as after it bricked my mobo (and fried my CPU) i found 2 other posters complaining about that very BIOS giving them issues and at least they were able to reflash to an earlier stable BIOS release

Asrock is RMAing the mobo, and intel (or the vendor) is replacing the CPU otherwise i'd be in the hole for close to $1000

That is some very good advice and i will definitely be doing that. Do you happen to know if i can flash the Bios on the specific motherboard i am getting? It does support Asrocks instant flash, but i don't know if i need to find a CPU that will support the board out of the box to use this feature? Thanks.

can't answer that as every board i've flash i had a CPU installed but Asrock's tech support was easy to reach and seemed knowledgeable and help - John was the tech i spoke with
