[SOLVED] Flashing pixels on monitor when set to 144hz

I have just bought an Acer GN246HL 144Hz monitor and when I set the refresh rate to 144Hz there are red pixels flashing all over the screen, it is perfectly fine on 60Hz and I currently have it connected with a DVI dual-link cable. I originally thought it may be the driver as it was only showing up as Generic PnP monitor and I resolved that by disabling signature checking and downloading the driver from the Acer website but it has not fixed the issue, I have updated my graphics drivers and updated windows but the problem persists, any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Maybe try using a different cable (like HDMI or DisplayPort) and/or try a new DVI-d cable.

GN246HL doesn't have DisplayPort and is limited to 60 Hz over HDMI.

The panel might be defective but I would recommend at least trying a new DVI-d cable just to be sure.
