I have a chainteck 7VJL Apogee in an older system.

Ran Everest and it gave me this..

CPU Type AMD Athlon XP, 2000 MHz (15 x 133) 2400+
Motherboard Name Chaintech 7VJL APOGEE (6 PCI, 1 AGP, 3 DDR DIMM, Audio, LAN)
Motherboard Chipset VIA VT8367 Apollo KT333
System Memory 512 MB (PC2100 DDR SDRAM)
BIOS Type Award (09/20/02)

its a backup system and I am getting new Ram for it, does anyone know if this is the only type of ram it will support? I am trying to get 2gb on board.

In addition I am considering flashing the bios on the mobo.
Found this..
http://www.driversearch.com/cgi/search.cgi?q=chainteck+7vjl&m=any

Now sure what version I should use ?

Any ideas, Much appreicated.. If I am missing anything from the everest report that would help just let me know.. Cheers

OK, your motherboard supports up to 3GB of PC-2700 RAM. (DDR-333) As for flashing the bios, the general rule is: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

So I can just do a search for PC-2700 RAM. (DDR-333) ?

Ok, I see in my first listing that I have Pc2100 memory, but your saying the system will support pc2700? what is the difference?

Cheers..

PC-2700 is faster. I can't say how much though. If you plan to reuse your current RAM, then buy more PC-2100. If you are buying completely new RAM, get PC-2700.

As I only have 512 memory on board and the board only has 3 ram slots I think i will just remove the 512 and replace with 3x 1gb ...

Cheers for your time... its appreciated..
