[Flat Panel Monitors] Decent deals?

Hey everyone,

Planning on getting a new monitor pretty soon and I was wondering if either of these would be a good choice for a multi-tasker. The monitor will be used mainly for photoshop, xsi/3ds max, vegas and also gaming and watching movies (a lot of movies at that). Would an H-IPS or S-IPS based monitor hinder movie and gaming experience? I ask this because my girlfriend does a lot of photo editing for local magazines and I digital paint in my spare time and I would really like a quality monitor at home we could both use.

Currently using:
ViewSonic VA1912wb x2 (Dual)

Planning on upgrading anywhere from 24"+ and would like 1920 x 1080. Here are the two options I am currently looking at. Feel free to suggest anything else in that price range;

ASUS MT276HE Black 27" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor 400 cd/m2 ASCR 50000:1

Your links do not work.

Are you using those monitors for professional graphics work? Sounds like it if your GF is doing photo editing for local magazines. The monitors you selected are based on TN panels which is not good for anything that requires color accuracy.

IPS panels are good for gaming, but you will probably see a little more ghosting than a fast TN panel monitor which is basically for gaming purposes. I am on IPS monitors and it's fine for me; I'm not a hardcore gamer though, but I like explosions and filling (virtual) people full of holes.

As for the monitors, we don't really need anything fancy; I was mainly just looking for something that was quite vivid, contained a larger resolution and overall better than my current. My girlfriend normally works on macs and I was just thinking if I got an IPS(H-S?) type monitor then she could make use out of it too, but 90% of the time I will be using it as she doesn't normally work at home.

My main concern is what can I get for under $350 (CAD) that is 24"+, 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200 (Never been on either but 1080 seems like the better choice for aspect ratio) and the best quality.

So far on a few things I've read IPS seems like the better choice, but is there a great one for my needs and price range?

Edit: Alright spent the last few hours looking over some monitors and it seems IPS would be the better choice but there isn't any that will fit my price budget. I've looked so far at:

Dell UltraSharp U2410 - IPS($499.00)
NEC MultiSync EA231WMI-BK - IPS 23" ($334.99 - $577.04) approx $351.074 CAD or so.

NEC sounds amazing but I don't see any above 24" and roughly 350ish. Not to mention the EA231WMI-BK which is 23" sounds good and all except for the 14ms response time. But is it really that bad?

For a regular TN type monitor, are these any good and if so which one is better:
SCEPTRE X270W
or
ASUS MT276HE?

So far leaning towards the 27" ones for more screen real estate which would be best for XSI and such.

The Dell monitors generally go on sale a week at a time every month...might be worth waiting for.
