I bought an 8GB module for my laptop (Lenovo G50) which originally came a 4GB module. this model uses an AMD processor. (this is the laptop)

I know Intel has Flex Memory Mode which allows you to use two different size chips together, where it runs the smaller chip and an equal amount of the larger chip in dual channel mode, and then runs the remainder of the large chip in single channel mode (ex. 4x4 in dual channel, and the remaining 4 in single channel).

I was wondering if AMD had the same or similar technology that would allow me to do this with the RAM I have. Thoughts?

so will it still work with the average memory i can buy online (like gskill)?
it sounds like you need AMP specific memory for it to work correctly

Depends on the specific rig, as far as what and how they provide support, you mention, AMP, where GB oft uses EOCP, Asus as DOCP and some use XMP for setup. As far as flex that comes through the BIOS so how well do individual mobo BIOSs provide support, most of the enthusiast mobos I've seen do, where then again, you might not find it in prebuilts

If you have 2 RAM slots on mobo and in one you put 8gb ram stick and in second slot 4gb stick, will it also work in flex mode(first 8gb from both sticks in dual channel mode and other left 4gb in single channel mode)?
Also does AMD support this on their APUs?
