Hello . Recently i was thinking of buying a 4gb ddr4 ram stick . In my pc i have 2 ram slots and i have just 1 stick of 8gb ddr4 2400mhz. I was thinking of buying the 4gb to have a good amount of ram to help me with ram heavy games like gta , rust etc . I read that if i do that its going to run the ram in flex mode. Is that bad? Is it slower than single channel ram?
Pc specs :
CPU i5 7400 3.0gHz
GPU GTX 1050Ti 4gb vram
RAM: 8gb ddr4 2400mhz
HDD 1TB
Motherboard H110

Solution
Save and get another 8gb. You'll better off with 16GB and the whole lot in dual channel rather than half/half single/dual channel.

Flex mode is good. You would then have 8GB in dual channel mode, and the remaining 4GB on the 8GB stick running in single channel mode.

Why not just buy another 8GB stick?
I was thinking to buy a 8gb stick but the price was a little much . I was just wondering what is the deal with flex mode to see if it was worth buying the 4gb stick . Maybe i should save up for the 8gb one. Ty :)
