Flood Spores

My god. These bloody things are worse than the head crabs in Half-life. I
never thought I'd see anything worse than that one elevator ride with
head-crabs raining down from above. Then I get to the point in Halo where
you're supposed to follow the floating blue lightbulb through the building.
I keep running out of ammo (pistol and assault rifle) fighting off swarms of
spores, and there's no refills. Any thoughts?

A good tactic in taking out "spores" is to shoot at them when they're in
clusters - you hit one and end-up taking out 5 or 6 more because of their
explosive damage. Try shooting in the middle of a pack and see what happens.

When they're attacking you individually, hit them with the butt of your
weapon ("F") just before they try to jump-up on you - 80% chance of whacking
them before they get on you. Running and jumping also can help you actually
dodge their close-up attack - their AI isn't that great.

Although fairly useless against other flood the needler works well against
large groups of spores. Fire one round and it will stick, when it explodes
it takes out a good number of them. Also if you are running out of ammo,
just let them attack you, when your shields are low start running around
until they build back up, then take more hits.

Also when there's only a couple of them and you know you'll have time to
regen your shields, just let them pop on you. If your aim isn't good
don't waste a bunch of shots trying to kill a couple of them.
When using the rifle butt make sure they're in your sights before
melee-ing. That's a guaranteed hit if they're close enough.
