floppy drve problems

I am having a problem with my floppy drive. I put in a disk and and go to my computer and click on the icon it clicks open but then it freezes. I have to push ctrl+alt+del and shut down the my computer icon to set things right. What would cause this? I have tried unistalling the floppy drive and reinstalling it but still did not work.

Does it do it for all floppies or just that one?
May be a bad drive. See if you can borrow one from a friend to test with. Also might check the cable/reseat it.

I haven't had a floppy drive for years. I had to use one a few months back though and it was just painfull. Took like 20 seconds to move 1MB. That's just wrong!

Flash drives are cheap if not free when you find a good deal. I have a 1GB flash drive that I got for $55. You can't go wrong. If you're looking for something cheap just check out bensbargains.net or anandtech's hot deals section.
