Hi,

I know this is not a help forum, but I have looked on the net for a solution to this problem but have found none, so my last chance is to post it to the crem de la crem of the computing comunity, hopefully you may be able to help me.

My CPU is fluctuating between 0-100-0-100 etc.

The "System Idle Process" is using the bulk of the CPU, second to a process called "Monitor.exe"

It is making the PC run slowly, I have recently updated WinXP SP2, but the problem occured while I was downloading the updates, not installing them.

Any ideas on how to stop the CPU cycling would be very much appreciated

Thank you

Gium

Specs are: Athlon 3GHz Socket 939, 1GB Memory, ASUS Deluxe Motherboard.

Googled...

So you running windows server? Since it monitors, it could explain the spikes... dont know if its really usefull thought!

Google it some more

Um...this is a 'helping' community" :!:

Anyways, "System Idle Process" is a normal process, and doesn't actually use and CPU resourses even though it will register that it does. As your your Monitor.exe....look at above posts.

Thanks for the tips, I ended the monitor.exe task and the CPU usage immediately droped to 0-4%.

Thanks for the help
