So i got a new 64GB usb flash drive but its performance is quite lacking... Its a Verbatim 64GB 2.0 interface with 3.0 support and during any transfers of any type of file it first bursts to around 25MBs then drops to 8.5MBs and fluctuates between 0 and 8.5. This is regardless of the file size or type. However i tried it on a different PC and the speed was a constant above 25MBs which made me wonder about the state of my pc, but with other usb drives and devices I easily get over 30MBs. So if anyone could help resolve my issue as to why this usb's transfer speed seems to be fluctuating that would be great.

not all flash drives are made equal. just because it says usb 3.0 doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get max usb 3.0 speeds. "usb 3.0 support" simply means it will work in usb 3.0 ports. i suggest reading reviews before your next flash drive purchase. something like the sandisk extreme or sandisk extreme pro. i have one and it will hit up to 150mb/s sequential writes but can sometimes dip all the way down to < 10mb/s.

ps - those are decent write speeds for a usb 2.0 flash drive. make sure your motherboard chipset and usb drivers are installed and up to date.
