Hi,

I currently have a MSI 2AE0 motherboard, which supports FM2 CPU sockets -

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU, Not bothered if it's an APU because I'll be upgrading my GPU too...Infact I have a Sapphire Radeon 6970 at a friends house, I know it isn't great, but it'll be better than my GeForce 620 -

I did some searching and I found a thread that said the best FM2 socket CPU/APU was a A10 7580K. I later realised it's an FM2+, And I'm not sure if there's a difference between FM2 and FM2+ so I didn't purchase it.

So my question is what would be the best FM2 (NOT FM2+) CPU/APU?

Thanks :)

Solution
For the OEM PC, because the BIOS updating has limitation, when you upgrade the cpu you have to buy the cpu that is in the their cpu support.
For A10 5800K, it is not the best cpu but it is good, I found the reviews, and like you have the discrete GPU ( if you get the hd6970 ) you will be fine.

I have no idea what an OEM version is haha. I'm thinking the AMD A10 6800K would be best?

In this case the best FM2 CPU for your motherboard is this one: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/W4Jm3C 😀 , and it will cost you 141$.

The performance increase will blow your mind, and as you can see, the CPU even comes with a free motherboard, hehehe (if you want 4 ram slot, you can even change the free motherboard to this one http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gab85mds3h by paying 20$ more)

My PC is a HP P6 (something something something), I don't think it has a BIOS...So what is the best CPU/APU I can get that my MB will support? :)

I do not want to change anything but my APU to another CPU or APU.

I have no idea, you'd have to wait for others to reply. Either way I'm happy to get either one. I just don't want the disappointment of installing the CPU/APU and it not working because of some kind of problem 🙁

it will be a risk to buy a CPU not listed on the link you posted. If it does not work you will have to buy new board or return the CPU (if you can) or try to sell it.

Just get one of the listed CPU, preferably a used one (the cheapest you can find). Or buy a new motherboard and the i3.

Hi, AlpeyMLG, just buy the A10-5800K, that is the best you can get for your pc, if you don't want change the MB. and by the way if you change the MB, you will need other copy OS too, because the OEM version windows can't be used for other manufactured brand MB.

I don't want to change my motherboard 100% :) So if I got the A10 it will be fine? What about this OEM stuff people are mentioning. I don't want to open the mail to a dissapointing APU that doesn't work 🙁
