I found a nice budget PC build, but I noticed when I view the details of the motherboard, it says that I need to install a FM2+ APU to support PCI express 3.0. PCpartspicker did not detect this as an issue, and I haven't seen any comments regarding this. However, I'm concerned if this is really an issue or not. The processor I am ordering is an AMD Athlon X4 750K trinity 3.4GHZ (FM2+ socket). I need to know if this is actually a problem, I don't want to find out later on that my CPU can't support PCI E.

Solution
It will run at PCI-E X16 2.0 (no different than a 3.0 except theoretically more bandwidth but it makes 0 difference in its current state) when not using an FM2+ CPU because of architectural differences

Thanks. Can you provide any insight as to why it might be saying this? It really has me worried, I hope I won't have to get a new mobo.

Solution

I picked a different mobo, without a PCI 3.0 slot, because I found that 3.0 cards can be used in 2.0 slots. Thanks for the help!
