FM2+ Upgrade from A8-6600k

Hello all,

I'm using an A8-6600k and am really happy with it. I'm looking to see if there is room to upgrade because:

1. I read that my Asus A88X-MA motherboard will support PCI3 settings ONLY IF I have an FM2+ processor.
2. I'd like to get a more efficient AMD processor for running my Plex server - and that's really its only job
3. I have a Hyper 212 cooler, if that matters.

That board only supports FM2+ CPU's, here is the list: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/A88XMA/HelpDesk_CPU/
A8-6600K gets a score of 4580 and the best FM2+ is the A10-7890K gets a score of 5777 so around 25% improvement.
Whether the cost is worth the bump is up to you but personally that is not a big enough jump to warrant the expense in my opinion.
Better to save that money for a more modern system.

Note that I didn't mention the A10 PRO-8850B which does get a slightly higher score (5828) because it doesn't look like it is readily available on eBay or Amazon. The A10-7890K is available for around $150.
