FM2A88X-ITX+ - wifi linux ?

Does the built in wifi on the Asrock FM2A88x-ITX+ work with linux ?
What wifi chip does it have ?

If so it will be supported out of the box on ubuntu 14.04 and most other Linux's

cant find specific chipset version but the windows driver is just a repacked atheros driver.

Hmm, is that not the ethernet connection ?
The windows driver list for WLAN gives "Wireless Lan driver ver:10.0.0.263"

Anyway I emailed Asrock support, see what they say.

" I ended up using the WiFi card in the box. Most folks won't need it, but kudos to ASRock for including a proper dual band dual channel Broadcom card (with Bluetooth 4), and an aerial. If you don't need the card, you can always flog it on eBay."

open the zip file and look at the drivers. appear to be atheros.

from amazon review, probably just the bluetooth chipset is broadcom. driver file is ~90MB so I dont really care to download to check it out...

OK I just got the driver package and looked inside like you say - it's Qualcomm Atheros. Will linux cover all Atheros chips ?

Asrock were very good at getting back to my question, and here is what they said

1. The WiFi module is AzureWave AW-NB110H which uses an Atheros AR5B22.

That Atheros WLAN chipset should serve you well as Atheros chips are among the few new chips with full functionality under Linux. I built my own wireless router based on an Atheros AR9380 3x3 802.11n chipset and it uses the exact same driver as your ARB552 chip. It works very well. All you have to do is install the ath9k driver and the Atheros firmware if they aren't already installed and you will be good to go. My guess is it will all be automatically detected and Just Work (tm).

Intel's chips rare decent but Intel disables "run as your own access point" mode in most all of them. Broadcom is really hit and miss and I'd try to avoid a Broadcom wireless chip if possible. I had a BCM43xx in my laptop and that got the boot as it was very unstable.
