Question Folder Not Responding

I have a 500 gb ssd that I save downloaded files to. Every time I go into it & click on any of the folders the cursor spins & not responding shows up. After 5 seconds it opens the folder. I have 16gb of memory & a AMD A-10 7700k cpu. This occurs even when the drive is almost empty or full.

Is it a very large folder?
I have had this happen with very large folders.

Some of the folders are under a gig & the biggest is 6 gb. I replaced my ssd when this started happening & the new one was working normally for a few months then the not responding started happening again.
