My customized folders (picture in thumbnail view) disappears when I copy folder to a different drive (or even different location on same drive).
Anybody knows how to retain the customized settings or force XP to display manually added thumbnail? I want to be able to ad a picture as a folder’s thumbnail ONCE and have it there forever when I copy and move the folder. It seems to me that this is the idea of customization folders. Why doesn’t it work?

So your saying the actual file doesn't copy or it just doesn't show the picture in the folder?
Did you change the view setting to thumbnails in the new folder? Those settings don't transfer from one folder to another.

I just checked some music folders and the folder.jpg file transfered. I did have to change the view to thumbnails for the picture to show up though.

Windows stores the thumbnails in a hidden file "Thumbs.db" , Which it stores in the folder your pics are

When you copy your folder to another drive, it only copies the visible files.

So tools - folder options - view(tab) - and show hidden file and untick Hide protected operating files

You will now see the thumbs.db file in you pics folder (assuming you have allowed to cache thumbnails (also on the view tab))

Now copy the folder to another drive (it will copy over thumbs.db), it should keep you previous settings

I would go back into folder options and restore defaults when your done
