I like it alot. Still needs a bit of tweaking here and there - but it
definitely looks alot better than the images for CM5.

Still would like to see some sort of teamtalks allowed at half-time in
the match or even pre-match "Give it your best shot!" "Enjoy the day!"
[if playing a way bigger club in FA Cup or somthing]

Wish there was a way of commenting about the referee and also a player
in the opposition team after a match.

I'm not impressed. The html-style is slow, I'm running only one league on
2GHz and 768RAM and gameplay is slower than 03/04.. The game itself is hard
to figure out - now I have to measure the impact of media handling, training
and response to other managers in order to approach the next game - and that
takes a lot of time and tweaking of tactics. That looks absolutely
realistic, but I can't tell if these things really do make impact on the
game or is it just a random coincidence. I gues I'd have to play several
seasons before I figure things out, but .. when I get 10-0 shots on goal and
all the players get 7 average rating, wheter we win or lose, being the 2nd
greatest and richest team in the league, that's weird. I haven't scored more
than 4 goals per game and I had too many 0:0 and 0:1 - the opponents, say,
16th in the league, are passing the ball like they are Real Madrid. When I
compare my players ability and theirs, it's clear that my team is better,
but on the pitch, having all of my guys morale Superb, decent tactics.. I
shoot 17-8 on the goal, they shoot 13-1 and they win 0:1. So, ok, it
happens, but if it happens most of the time, regardless of tweaking,
substitutes.. then.. 🙁

I also noticed the 2d highlights offer fewer different scoring styles than
03/04 - in the old version I scored many goals from near post on corner
kicks, in this one barely few. Long shots in 2005 are particularly
interesting - way too many, and way too wide - as if they are shooting at
the reporters 20ft away from the post. Some long shots look low and
explosive, like they're going in, and they fly above the goal.. then,
others, look like they're too high and they go through tke keeper or he
pushes it down onto ground with ease. Weird.

If anyone has an advice or to point to a FAQ, that would help. I'm a long
time CM fan and I really like the game, but this newest one is so far
hardest to figure out. I'll try with EPL and see what happens there.

I've found that some parts of the game are slower - the worst is the player
search screen where the screen freezes for a minute and makes me thing the
game has crashed.

Your media comments are supposed to effect the type of player that will come
to your squad, it also boosts or drops your players moral before a game
(though they do seem to have removed the comment from your assistant who
said in the demo if your players were happy or disapointed with your
comments, though some of the media comments do seem random, in my Spurs the
press asked what are the chances of me keeping a star youngster, I said he
has a contract with us and I hope he will honour, the player was happy with
this comment, but a few weeks later I was asked the same thing and responded
with the same answer, but this time he was unhappy saying I was hurting his
chances of playing for a big club.

Did they score on the counter? it sounds like all your players are attacking
and they break quickly and you end up with no players back. I find playing a
defensive style seems to work better, though sometimes it does seem random -
beat Portsmouth in the League 4-1, played them in the Cup next and lost 4-1
with same tactics and players.

Tell your players not to take long shots, it seems to work in this version
(though sometimes too well). Judging height on the 2D screen does involve
much guess work, though we'll find out next year how good CM5's tilted view
is.

Its the best one I've played so far, well worth the £18 it can be had for
online, the skin and interface is alot cleaner and better once you are used
to it, the tweaks to the match engine make it feel alot more real, but still
needs some more tweaking, better and more media, player and team
interactions would be nice.

One thing that is annoying me is that with each version they seem to include
less stats on your players games, CM01/02 broke down appearances into
league, cup and europe on the main screen, CM03/04 told you how many
goals/90mins your players scored etc.., we are now down to just a handful of
information.

I don't share these feelings, to me FM is way better than previous
versions, and have been playing 8 leagues with decent speed.

Like I said, I'll take some more time, ie 5-6 seasons with Southampton 😉
then we'll see..
