For 1080p, GTX 1050Ti or 1060 3GB?

So I'm looking to upgrade my GPU and am currently stuck between these two options. I originally wanted to go with 1060 with 6 GB but it's way out of my budget right now so I stepped it down to these.

My friends have 1050Ti and they seem to have zero problems running pretty gamed at a playable framerate with high settings, but benchmarks and similar questions on here show that 1060, even with the lower VRAM is a better choice. I'm looking to play modern titles with high/max settings without going below 60fps, the occasional drop is fine as long as it's not too bad or frequent.

Keep in mind that I can afford both, I'm just not sure if the price difference is worth it.

Appreciate any help.

1050-Ti better memory performance, an awesome entry level card

1060-3gb for higher core and boost clock (seriously 3gb of VRAM wll NOT limit your performance prvided u play at 1080p/1440p with minimal MSAA) good mid range card.

we are technically discussing the same thing, might be worth a read

RX-470 and 480 are good competitors but i haven't any experience with them so id rather not comment

1060-3GB is what u should choose, imo

i don't think that's entirely true, afaik the 6-gb version just has slightly hire clock speeds and larger VRAM and both gpus are based on pascal architecture.

Ah, I see. 1060 will make better use of that VRAM then.
Assuming CPU and RAM isn't an issue, is there any title out there that 1060 3GB wouldn't be able to run smoothly on max. settings? I'm guessing there would be quite a few with 1050Ti, I hope it's not the case with 1060.

RX 480 at that price point man.
Gtx 1050 ti < rx 470 < gtx 1060 3gb <rx 480 4gb < gtx 1060 6gb < rx 480 8gb.

That's a general guide line, some games are different. Through driver updates AMD really brought up the performance on the rx 480, also the gtx 1060 3gb I believe is a completely different chip than the 6gb version, unlike the rx 480 4gb vs 8gb.
