For gaming is a 4.2ghz CPU with quad core better then a 3.5ghz six core with Nvidia gtx 610 2gb gpu?

Just curious, would OCing the 6300 to the same clock speed help it to have the same single threaded performance? Or is there something different about the architecture between the two.

And chowder I'd recommend the 6300, it will run older and new games just fine.


That one comes with an OS so it's good on that front. Ever so slightly faster CPU. The GPU has 1gb less VRAM but if you're looking to upgrade that soon it might not matter. It still has that same PSU that I personally wouldn't risk going with. No-name brand is a no-go for me.

I don't think there's a specific time frame that I can give you. It should work, but not as well as quality PSU's. There's always a risk involved with lower quality PSU's. I've always had good luck with Corsair PSU's, you probably shouldn't need more than 500w. Bronze rated will work well.
