Question For some reason cant change to 144Hz?

I recently bought the Acer GN246HL Monitor which does support 144Hz. I got a Dual Link DVI cable for it as well. So whenever I try to change it to anything above 60Hz (100,120,144) my screen size shrinks Horizontally (it doesnt fill the whole screen) and a blue box shows up saying "Incorrect Cable. Please use the Dual Link DVI Cable that came with your monitor."

Did you buy a single link or dual link dvi cable. Single will only send 60hz signal.

Are you sure that you are using a dual link DVI cable? And what make is your GPU?

Are you sure that you are using a dual link DVI cable? And what make is your GPU?

My GPU is NVIDIA GTX 1080 and yeah im positive that its a Dual Link DVI Cable.

Do you know difference between dual link and single link DVI cable? May be you got sold wrong cable.

I've got the DVI-D (Dual Link) cable

Highly unlikely. GTX 10 series cards don't have DVI-I. It's DVI-D dual link.

DUH you are correct I have a 1080 in drawer and it is a dvi-D

Some Dual-Link cables are fake. Don't go by the pin count.

I don't know why, but it didn't come with one

Went out to get another cable! 144Hz works fine now! Thanks for the help!
