Forced Reboots? Perhaps GFX Card Problem?

I'm not sure what's going on but ever since I've bought my new GFX Card, my computer's been restarting itself and I presume due to heat, I never had any Temperature monitors running as I never had any problems with heat beforehand.
Now the problem is when I play high end games with graphics full on (Need for Speed Underground, Final Fantasy 11, Crammonds Grand Prix 4, etc...), and after d/l temperature monitoring tools I've found that my GPU hits 55-72C constantly during gameplay, and the sys/cpu temp is 20-30/30-40C, both on load, however when the Card does manage to hit anything between 58-72C it reboots the machine, I get garbage on my screen till I let the computer to cool for a few seconds (This only happens at 69C+(extremely rarely happens and only playing N4S:U)). I'm not sure whether this is to do with the Motherboard or not, though I know that there's an auto shutdown feature when a certain temeperature is reached. (Epox said it's nothing to do with this and I think they're right).
I'm not exactly sure what's going on here whether it's actually the BIOS controlling the temperature max and it's counting the GFX Card or whether it's to do with my GFX Card's setup (which I don't know how to change), everything's running at stock speeds.
As far as ventilation and airflow goes, it seems fine, I'm using the Chenbro "Gaming Bomb" case (if that's of any help), I have the front 80mm fan pumping air into the case with I think with little obstruction due to IDE cables (round), three PCI slots free from the GFX Card, another 80mm fan just above the GFX card at the back sucking out the air from within the case. The card is completely free with nothing obstructing air flow, I've tried with the side case off though the same thing seems to happen.
Anyone ever had this problem, and/or they know how to fix?

Try adding a fan to blow across the gfx card (I had to do this for a passively cooled 9600...)

one question though... what is your gfx card make, model & brand ??? U havent listed it with UR specs...

Trust me I know what I'm doing... ooops, grab the cat...

Hows the air flow inside your case?

And what is your PSU brand and rating?

It looks to me that your also drawing a lot of power (you don't say what size PSU your using), low or poorly regulated (read cheap) PSU's don't deliver the sort of stable power that you need, and low and unstable power output can lead to increased temps due to voltage fluctuations across the chip and GPU causing crashes as they draw more power.

Try disabling the drives that arn't required this will lower your power requirements and then try your games again, if that makes no difference, reconnect everything, take the sides off your case and stick a small desk fan next to it blowing air over everything, and play again. If it's temp related it should stay cool enough and nothing will happen.

That should (hopefully) isolate those two cause's.

I've got a 400W QTEC GOLD Dual Fan PSU, so it's branded but I'm not exactly sure how good they are, yes it was cheap but I've heard that these PSU's were very good.
Before I have also had both sides of my case off with a fan blowing inside it, it lowered the temperate on the card by 10C (62C max on NFS:U), yet it still rebooted the machine and with no graphical corruption. My friend said to me that it probably could be the power supply, it's just that I wasn't sure, it's a brand new PSU so I wouldn't have thought it'd be that, though if it's because it's cheap (£22, though I've seen places selling it for £15 now), then I guess I should buy a new PSU.
Also seeing that a Leadtek has such a HUGE Heatsink, is there a way of giving it extra cooling as there doesn't seem to be a way of adding another fan to it...

I'm still thinking PSU, unplug any drives you don't need and run the tests again, this will unload the PSU and if everything runs fine...then you know, if it makes no diff..then at least you havent had to folk out for something that may not have been faulty.

Well, it looks like you'rw 100% right, I unplugged two CD Drives and 2 HD's, and I played NFS:U on absoloute max graphics, hitting a GFX Temp no higher than 72C (SYS/CPU : 34C/23C), and it still ran like a dream.
Thanks for the help, any idea on which PSU I should get? Preferably a Quiet PSU would be nice, I'll be going here sometime next week, and I was going to be in the vicinity anyway so I may as well buy the PSI then, which PSI should I get from that place?

To help, I'll put down the exact hardware I have:

19" Monitor - 1600*1200@75Hz
Leadtek A380 Ultra TDH MyViVO
Chenbro Gaming Bomb Case

IBM Desktar GXP240 120GB - RAID 0
10/100 NE2000 Network Card
2*80mm Coolermaster Fans (1 front, 1 Back)

If you can point out a few selections from cheap to expensive (which aren't tosh but branded), then I'll be very grateful. Thanks for the help!

Sorry i can't think of any at the moment, maybe someone else could chip in here to help out, as a rough guide though if it's cheap and light weight...don't bother. In Au a decent power supply costs around 170 dollars Au for a 400 watter..and they weigh a ton. THG did a review last year I think on PSU's, it should be worth having a look at that.

Gary.

Glad it worked out OK in the end....

I can't seem to find the article though thanks for your help and all, much appreciated.
I've taken a look at a few PSU's and it seems that I may either go for a 400W Antec or a 400W Zalmans, though with the price of the Zalman's, I highly doubt I'll be going anywhere near them!
I'll br adding another IBM Desktar 180GB sometime in the summer so there'll be 4 HD's (2 RAIDs) which'll mean that the PSU'll need more juice, so I'll really need a PSU that'll most likely also accompany a few more Hardware addons. so maybe 450W instead?

The best power supply on the site you listed is the Sparkle 400wt supply. Sparlke is a rebadgedFortrom Source power supply.

The 400wt unit from Sparkle(Fortron0 is good for about 450-460 watts. There supplys are rated at continous output not max surge output like the others.

I aint signing nothing!!!

Judge by the amount of stuffs in your case, i would say you need about 500Watts to be on the safe side. Look for Antec/Fortons PSUs, i think their top product is 550Watts.

Well the Sparkle 400W I can certainly afford, but will it accomodate a few more Hardware addon's and/or upgrades in the near future? Though Antec's 550W is a little over-priced and quite a way out of my budget, if I have no choice though I'll buy it, but paying £94 for one is kind of steep...
The Antec TrueBlue 480W PSU is £20 and I could just about afford that I think, if that's fine for extra hardware, then I'll most likely buy that, or the 400W Sparkle IF it'll accomodate my extra hardware in the near future.
Cheers for the article, very helpful. :)

400W will likely to stretch your system to the limit when you add more hardware. If you can get Antec 480W for 20 pounds...i certainly cant resist that.
