Forgot to order thermal paste with my 6700k...

I've been ordering a bunch of parts for a new build since Black Friday. I realized I forgot my thermal paste when I ordered my 6700k. I'm looking for some help with what to buy now. I haven't installed a cpu in eight or nine years.

Arctic Silver 5 is what most recommend. Always works great for me.

You need to order a cooler with the 6700k ?? It doesn't come with one.

If you have ordered a seperate cooler it will come with it's own paste anyway.

...I personally prefer Tuniq TX-2, but AS5 should suffice if you have a decent heatsink. Speaking of which, your heatsink should already have some pre-applied unless you are reusing an old heatsink?

Have an EKWB L360 coming. I believe the 6700k is one that comes without now. I like this because so many people with unlocked cpu's aren't going to use a stock cooler.

No need to buy any extra

Yes, it doesn't come with one. Luckily I was using pcpartpicker.com when I did my current build and it warned me of this else I would have not ordered a cooler!

Is whatever paste comes with it good enough for the overclocking it's meant to do? Is what comes with it a brand name or anything?

You get ek's own ectotherm with it mate

Yes its good, on a par with mx2 & as5.

There is better stuff , up to you if you want to pay extra.

Personally think cooler master master gel maker is THE best stuff there is , not cheap & not that easy to apply though.
