Forgot to turn off and unplug the psu when unplugging and plugging in things on the motherboard. Did I do some damage?

Not sure if there's any long term damage done to the motherboard. The pc works right now, but I wanted to know if I did damage my motherboard when I did that. Is there a definite answer to this. I just forgot to turn it off in the middle of my troubleshooting when I had to turn it off and on multiple times to see if the pc boots up (solve it by replugging the mobo psu connector).

I've heard the danger of static, but this is another whole level of carelessness. I wonder if anyone had done this before, and their motherboard ran fine for 3-5+ years.

Solution
Static electricity can damage parts but this case has nothing to do with it. Plug-unplug power cables is not as dangerous as doing it with other components like RAM and GPU, that can damage both. Make sure that power is disconnected all the way before doing something inside PC.

I see, thanks for replying. Is there damage I will be seeing later down the line though? Hear somewhere online that static damage can make your component life shorter.

Figure since I'm dealing with the connectors on my motherboard that I might have done something real bad. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up Mike :)
