Forgotten Windows password, cannot reset from email

My dad bought a new laptop and forgot the password to Windows login. Resetting the password through email doesn't work, seems like it cannot update the password on the laptop.. Tried all the basic rebooting and etc.. anyone got any ideas? He hasn't got a password-reset-USB drive either.
The laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad 510S running Windows 10
