format old SSD with operating system on it.

I bought a new m.2 ssd and windows 10 because somehow when I built my new computer and recycled the old m.2 ssd from my old computer windows corrupted (even though I deactivated windows on the old computer and reinstalled it in the new one).

I first tried wipping the m.2 ssd with software like DBAN. But That failed even when turning of UEFI mode. So i just decided to skip the hassle and buy a new m.2 ssd and windows version.

Now im wondering if I install the new m.2 ssd and windows on it and select that as my boot drive, will I be able to plug the old m.2 in as just a storage drive and format it in a regular way and delete the windows operating system? Or will windows still prevent that? I don't care about the operating system dissapearing but I don't want to throw away the SSD.

deactivating windows does nothing, it just removes the licence off the old PC but doesn't tell Microsoft anything. It is unnecessary but that doesn't answer main question.

DBAN only works on HDD, If you want it to do SSD or m.2, you need to buy the professional version.

Fastest way to wipe old M.2 would be to remove the working m.2 (so as to not accidentally wipe it)
Boot from the win 10 installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose command prompt
type diskpart and press enter
type list disk and press enter
this shows all drives available, DVD/USB and hdd, make note of ssd number
type Select disk X - where X is the number of thessd you want to wipe, change X to that number and press enter
once the drive you want to wipe is chosen, type Clean
Once finished, turn off PC, reattach new m.2, log into win 10 and run drive management or Storage to format the other m.,2 as a storage drive
