Is it possible to format FAT32 to FAT?

I am wanting to update software on my Lowrance Fishfinder, but it will only read from a SSD card that is FAT formatted. It seems Windows Vista only allows for NFTS, FAT32 & exFAT formatting.

I have two SD cards that both are FAT32. I hate to buy new cards as I just purchased these. 4G & 8G.

I have a portable SD Card - Memory Card reader/writer that I bought and hooked up to my computer via USB.

Any suggestions?

Found this information in the vista64 forums. From dmex:
Vista can format using FAT/FAT32 and it works with any USB device of ANY size using DOS...

just type format /FS:FAT32 x:

replace x with the drive letter and Vista will format the device without any issues.

So I would guess that striking the 32 off of the end of FAT32 would get you what you want. And I'm guessing he means command prompt by dos.
