Formatting ide usb driver

I connected a Matrox IDE HD trough adapter via USB.
XP tells USB device woks correctly
I can't see device name in explore neither disk under disk management

Jiggle and reinsert the cables.
The USB adapter may be bad.
Try connecting the hard drive directly to the computer.
