Formatting Taking Forever?

Hey everyone, I'm currently formatting a Western Digital Black 2TB HDD. It's been at it for over 13 hours now. I'm worried that something went wrong but I don't want to stop it and damage the drive. How long do I wait before shutting it down? What tools are their for formatting that work better then Windows Disk Manager?
