Now I know that your FPS can be affected by a fair bit when streaming in OBS, but my pc is pretty decent. I have an OC'd i7 4770k, 16gb ram and a 6gb gtx 1060. It is quite strange because my fps is usually 150-300, but instantly starts getting extremely choppy 'till the point of it being unbearable. FPS drops to about 10 and is not steady at ALL. Someone help??

Fortnite is very sensible about anything else running in the background, even if you limit it to 60FPS where it would only use up a small fraction of your CPU power will it still drop.

The only way to smoothly stream fortnite is by using QSV or NVENC in OBS so it uses the GPU and make sure the recording is on the highest priority.
Not really. Such is the nature of gaming/streaming. Specially with 4c/8t CPU. Here's Tom's artcile on it. https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/game-streaming-encoding-coffee-lake-ryzen,review-34144.html

You can see kaby lake I7 7700k even has issues wih dropped frames, stuttering. This is mostly to do with stream settings and finding a balance between in game settings/fps and the video output quality.

Trick around with presets and see if you an get a balance.
