Forum how do you open a zcat file?

Hello,
I recently transferred some old files onto my computer from a flash drive. The files are either ZCAT or XML documents. I have no idea what this means or what the are. My computer will not open them. How do I open these files?
I have Windows XP.

zcat is a linux compressed file, xml is a text file in xml format. If you don't know what the files are why are you trying to open them? Most xml files are useless by themselves. And if the zcat were filed you compressed, you should know what they contain.
