Foxconn 520a compatible processors

Hi

This is my first post on Tomshardware and I was hoping that some of you guys could help me out.

I'm looking to upgrade my cpu that will still be compatible with my current mobo which is a foxconn 520a. I currently have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ but I'm looking at upgrading to an AMD Opteron 4376 HE or the Opteron 4340. It says it uses an AM2+ socket which I'm not sure if the Foxconn 520a has. Help will be really apprreciated!

Your motherboard has a AM2+ socket. This will work with both AM2 and AM2+ cpus. Also, AM3 will work if DDR3 is used.
Both of the cpus you mentioned uses a different socket.

Correct me if I am wrong, but "HT1.0 interface" doesn't mean anything. Just look for a cpu with an AM2 or AM2+ socket. Also, AM3 will work if DDR3 RAM is used.

The 520A doesn't use DDR3 memory.

Do you think it would wise to replace my existing processor for an AMD Phenom X4 9750 or not?

The Phenom is slightly better in performance, but not too noticeably better. Only about a 10% increase.
Also, buying an AM2+/AM2 processor will be hard, as they are not on the major market anymore.

With a bit more research, I found out that my motherboard can run all AM2+ processors, but the problem is, is that it is only compatible with CPUs that use up to 95w. I think this is stopping me from using some of the higher end AM2+ processors.
