Is one of the RAM slots broken? Your performance will be significantly impacted by a single DIMM.

You are robbing your CPU of 1/2 the memory bandwidth it was designed for. I would not recommend a single DIMM setup.

The max memory for that board is 16GB so should be 8GB sticks max also.
